Methods
First
of all I believe in, and I like, the direct method. I think that the learning
of a second language should be similar to the acquisition process with which
the mother tongue was achieved, where the situations are concrete and as close
to reality as possible and that is how we should learn them.
And as a third method, the Computer
Assisted Language or CALL, is a very current method, where this generation
feels at ease, because the use of TIC, is to be used and simplify learning,
never to replace it, but it is a great possibility in these times.
Conclusions
First
of all, the pedagogical practice carried out as it should be, complying with
the hours and parameters, is a great learning experience.
Second,
to be able to put into practice the theory about the ways of learning the
language and to be able to demonstrate it in a classroom is a great advance in
the theoretical-practical relationship of the teaching components.
Third, there are many weaknesses in the practice process as such, which end up affecting the student.
It is recommended to consider the strategy for courses nowadays, since the pandemic has changed the way of teaching classes, therefore these must continue to be motivating and satisfying even in a virtual way.
The most remarkable moments
I can
mention 2 very nice moments of the practice. The first one was the welcome.
They asked me if I was also going to be a teacher like their teacher, and I
felt very satisfied with their expectations.
The
second moment was, when the teacher did one of the activities in which I
supported her, as they stated that they had not done any similar before. That
was a great satisfaction, I felt that I was achieving something very good with
my practice.
On
the contrary, at the moment when, due to management issues, the activities were
suspended. I found myself at the crossroads between my responsibility to my
internship, in terms of hours, and my opportunities to share with the teacher
and the children.
The process of your observation practice
The
internship process can be described in two parts, the first being the process
to get the internship, or rather, the site for the internship. A letter of
introduction was sent to an institution with an agreement with the university
and the institution never responded. Based on that and the time that was
running, the acceptance in another institution was achieved.
On
March 25, I started the internship as such, I was received by the teacher via
WhatsApp. The classes were completely virtual, and the development of these was
very profitable. I contributed with 3 activities, which she found adequate and
different, being to her liking.
The
support from my methodology tutor was excellent, always willing to guide me and
correct my mistakes, regarding the conventional forms of documents.
The synthesis of the Diarios de campo
The
three field diaries collected information on the development of the English
classes, and even of other classes to which we accompanied the teacher. In
them, we describe the way in which the contents were approached as well as the
activities that complemented the learning or rather that put into practice what
was learned.
The 3
field diaries carried out in the practice to observe the methodology for
teaching the language, in addition to considering this point, allowed us to
visualize the children's attitudes towards the different strategies used by the
teacher.

The description of the course
The institution where the internships take place is
Ciudad Educativa Espiritu Santo in Villavicencio. It is urban, private and
works with children for elementary and high school. At present, the meetings
are virtual, through platforms such as Meet and Zoom, supported by online
guides and activities. Regarding the students, they are from high strata, who
have all the technological resources. The grade that is observed is the fourth,
with 12 students on average, and a high level of English, it could be said from
B1 to B2; all their courses are in English.
With respect to their opinions about learning English,
it can be said that they like the use of games, they understand why they study
in English, but they do not like to be corrected. In general terms, it is a
language that should be learned because of its advantages.
Since these students learn through the communicative
method, with a natural and task-based approach to learning a second language,
it could be said that the course has allowed us to see in reality what the
theories have pointed out to us.
